Improving Crop Resiliency: Agriculture in Changing Climate REU

This 10-week USDA-funded summer program provides students the opportunity to contribute to scientific discovery and produce effective communication for agricultural end users. Mentored research projects tackle significant questions in plant biology and soil science using techniques that range from molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology to organismal and population approaches.

Program Features

  1. Previous experience is not required and labs will tailor opportunities to your interests and experiences. We include undergraduate students at all grade levels from diverse institutions and with varied personal and scientific backgrounds.
  2. Program leaders will talk with you to help you identify your specific interests and optimize our lab placements.
  3. You will take field trips to regional farms for experimentation and farmer interactions. This extension work is mentored by WSU extension experts and involves the development of team-based outreach presentations, which will improve your science communication and organizational skills.
  4. You will get to meet summer researchers from a wide variety of WSU summer programs during weekly professional development presentations and hone your scientific skills with a poster at the summer research symposium.
