Molecular and Integrative Physiology (MIP) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship

The Department of Molecular & Physiology at the University of Michigan Medical School offers the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program, to support undergraduate students who are interested in research in physiology and/or biomedical sciences. Preference is given to those students interested in a research career.

Students should review the Physiology Faculty members to find a faculty member whose research focus aligns with their interests. This laboratory collection is involved in nationally recognized research, in topics such as hormones and signal transduction, obesity and diabetes, reproduction and circadian rhythms, gastrointestinal physiology including digestive diseases, cardiovascular disease and hypertension, renal and pulmonary function, muscle contractile mechanisms, ion channels and neurophysiology.

There will be a required 2-day Summer Symposium, in which fellows will present their work. Opportunities to attend research seminars throughout the summer, will also be offered.
